Summary
From 11 March to 19 April 2026, the Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo Festival presents “Utopies-opus 1,” celebrating instrumental diversity, world premieres, and cross-disciplinary performances across Monaco.

The 2026 edition of the Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo Festival, running from 11 March to 19 April, invites audiences on a journey where musical instruments take center stage. Titled “Utopies-opus 1,” this year’s festival highlights the diversity of timbres, materials, and performance techniques, offering a fresh perspective on classical and contemporary music.
Under the presidency of H.R.H. The Princess of Hanover, the festival continues its four-decade mission of exploring music across centuries and continents, while fostering encounters between artistic disciplines. In 2026, instruments themselves guide the experience, from traditional gut strings to modern “virtual oboes,” and from the haunting tones of the duduk to the ethereal sound of the ondes Martenot.
Notable ensembles include the Danel and Mosaïques quartets, which explore contrasts between gut and metal strings and curved and straight bows, while Les Ambassadeurs ~ La Grande Écurie present Mozart and Bach concertos featuring both harpsichord and fortepiano.
The festival also emphasizes interdisciplinary encounters. Paintings by Yves Millecamps accompany performances, drawing parallels between musical and visual composition, while dance is integrated through choreographies performed by the Ballets de Monte-Carlo. Millecamps reflects on music’s role in shaping his artistic vision, describing the dialogue between colours, “sound canvases,” and the organization of matter.
Innovation and creation remain central to the festival’s program. Highlights include a new piano concerto by Marc Monnet performed by Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, a bespoke piano show by Claudine Simon, oboe compositions by François Salès, and contemporary interpretations of 13th- and 14th-century lauds. Additionally, four new choreographic “miniatures” created with the Ballets de Monte-Carlo will make their debut.
With a focus on instrumental exploration, artistic encounters, and premieres that blend tradition with modernity, the 2026 Printemps des Arts festival promises a season of discovery and inspiration across Monaco’s emblematic venues.
