A New Era for the Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique with its 28th Edition

The 28th edition of the Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique represents an important milestone in the history of this emblematic event organised by the Automobile Club de Monaco. More than a traditional regularity rally, the latest edition introduces a number of long-awaited updates designed to respond to participants’ expectations, while maintaining the character and accessibility that have defined the rally since its creation.

Among the most notable developments is the wider eligibility period for competing vehicles, now open to models that took part in the Monte-Carlo Rally between 1911 and 1986. This expansion enables a broader historical panorama of rallying to be represented, bringing together iconic models from across several eras of motorsport.

The rally also reinforces its international dimension, with six starting cities across Europe — including destinations such as Monte-Carlo, Barcelona, Reims, Turin, Bad Homburg and John O’Groats — underlining the event’s deep connection with the continent’s rallying heritage and enthusiast communities.

A key evolution concerns the organisation of regularity stages on closed roads, enhancing both sporting interest and safety while retaining the rally’s traditional focus on precision rather than pure speed. This modernisation has been welcomed by competitors and aligns the event more closely with contemporary expectations for historic rally competition.

As in previous years, the rally route centres around the historic mountain roads of the Drôme, Ardèche, Vercors and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence regions, before concluding in the Principality. The event culminates with the symbolic finish in Monaco’s Port Hercule and the traditional Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony at the Salle des Étoiles, a moment that celebrates both the competitive spirit and the camaraderie that characterise the rally.
