Summary
Speaking at the start of the year, Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) President-Delegate Stéphane Valeri highlighted Monaco’s strict safety and capacity regulations governing hospitality and entertainment venues, underlining the Principality’s long-standing commitment to public safety.
At the beginning of the year, Stéphane Valeri, President-Delegate of the Société des Bains de Mer (SBM), highlighted the stringent safety standards applied across Monaco’s hospitality and entertainment venues, underlining the Principality’s regulated approach to public events and visitor reception.
Speaking during his annual address to the press, Valeri recalled that SBM has progressively modernised its event practices, notably through the widespread adoption of LED-based visual effects in place of traditional pyrotechnic devices. These technologies are now standard across the group’s venues, reflecting evolving safety norms within the sector.
He also noted that materials classified as inflammable are prohibited in venues operating in Monaco, in line with local and national regulations, and that strict capacity limits apply to enclosed spaces. These controls form part of a broader regulatory framework designed to ensure safe operating conditions during public events, particularly those attracting large audiences.
SBM, one of Monaco’s largest employers and a central actor in the Principality’s tourism and leisure economy, operates under close supervision from public authorities. Safety protocols, venue layouts and occupancy thresholds are subject to regular oversight as part of Monaco’s governance standards.
The remarks come as Monaco continues to position itself as a destination combining high-profile events with a strong regulatory culture, offering reassurance to residents, visitors and industry stakeholders alike.
