Summary
Monaco Legend Group returns to Time On Show during Rétromobile’s 50th anniversary edition, presenting one of the rarest modern Rolex chronographs ever produced — the platinum Daytona “Zenith” ref. 16516 — alongside a curated selection of exceptional timepieces.
Monaco Legend Group (MLG has returned to Time On Show as part of the 50th anniversary edition of Rétromobile, reaffirming its role as a founding partner of one of Europe’s most prestigious classic car and collecting events, running from January 28 to February 1, 2026.
At the heart of this year’s presentation is one of the most legendary modern Rolex chronographs ever created: the platinum Daytona “Zenith” reference 16516. Fitted with a black mother-of-pearl dial believed to be unique, the watch is one of only four known platinum examples in existence.
Long surrounded by rumour, the platinum Zenith Daytona is now firmly established as one of the most important Rolex rarities. Commissioned privately by former Rolex CEO Patrick Heiniger, fewer than five examples were ever produced and gifted to close friends and business associates. Unlike the commercially released platinum Daytona launched in 2013, this version was never offered to the public and features its own dedicated reference number, platinum hallmarks and a matching platinum clasp.
The example presented by Monaco Legend Group also boasts exceptional provenance. It was gifted to mark a Paris wedding in October 1999, with the case back engraved accordingly and accompanied by complete original documentation, offering rare insight into Rolex’s private world at the very highest level of the brand.
Alongside this centrepiece, MLG is showcasing other significant platinum timepieces, including a rare Patek Philippe Nautilus ref. 5711/1P pre-series model and an exceptional Rolex Ovettone ref. 6304 in platinum, newly released to the market from the original owner’s family.
Throughout the event, Monaco Legend Group’s specialists are offering live valuations and private consignment consultations, welcoming collectors and enthusiasts to discover timepieces where history, rarity and provenance converge, reinforcing Time On Show as a major highlight of the international watch collecting calendar.
