Monaco Firefighters Prepare Autonomous Emergency Drone
The new system is designed to reach emergency scenes and send live information to crews before they arrive.

MONACO — October 5, 2026 — Monaco's Fire Brigade is preparing to introduce an autonomous emergency drone designed to provide firefighters with an early view of incidents.
Expected to become operational later this month, the system can automatically launch when a fire engine is dispatched and travel directly to the reported location.
The drone will transmit live images to emergency teams while crews are travelling to the scene, helping them assess the situation before arriving.
Its equipment includes daytime and nighttime cameras as well as infrared technology capable of identifying heat sources.
The system has been developed with technology partner Flying High and is currently completing final testing.
The project has also required the establishment of specific no-fly zones within Monaco to comply with the Principality's aviation and drone regulations.
The Fire Brigade describes the initiative as a world-first approach to autonomous emergency response and plans to present the technology at professional events and conferences.
