Monaco to Issue New Mobile Numbers Exclusively Under +377 From October

MONACO — September 25, 2026 — Monaco will introduce a new mobile numbering arrangement from October 1, with all new mobile numbers issued in the Principality using the +377 international dialling code. The change follows bilateral protocols between Monaco's Directorate of Digital Platforms and Resources and France's telecommunications regulator, Arcep. Under the new system, new Monaco Telecom customers will receive eight-digit mobile numbers preceded by +377 and formatted within Monaco's national numbering range. The change continues Monaco's development of an independent telecommunications numbering framework. Monaco obtained its own international country code in 1996, although some mobile ranges have historically operated under both French and Monegasque numbering arrangements. Existing customers whose numbers begin with 06 will retain their current numbers and will not need to take any action. Authorities have also linked the change to efforts to strengthen electronic communications security and reduce risks associated with spoofing and telephone fraud. The updated system will apply to new individual and business mobile subscriptions from October 1, 2026.
