Monaco Welcomes Its 10,000th Monegasque Citizen
A baby girl named Anna has become the Principality's 10,000th citizen.

MONACO — October 5, 2026 — Monaco has officially reached 10,000 Monegasque citizens following the birth of a baby girl named Anna.
Born in June, Anna became the milestone citizen as Monaco's national community continues to grow. The achievement was marked on September 30 during a reception at Monaco City Hall attended by Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène.
The milestone follows years of steady growth in Monaco's citizen population. Earlier this year, the Principality counted 9,961 citizens after 170 people acquired Monegasque nationality in 2025.
Unlike naturalisation milestones, the 10,000th citizen entered the community through birth, reflecting Monaco's longstanding system of nationality passed through a Monegasque parent.
The milestone highlights the continuing development of Monaco's national community while citizens remain a minority among the Principality's wider resident population.
The occasion was celebrated as an important moment in Monaco's modern demographic history.
