Fontvieille Esso Station Set to Close After Nearly Five Decades
The long-standing Avenue des Castelans petrol station is scheduled to shut permanently on August 31.
MONACO — August 30, 2026 — Monaco’s Fontvieille district is set to lose one of its long-standing petrol stations when the Esso station on Avenue des Castelans closes permanently on August 31.
Located near Stade Louis-II, the station has served motorists for close to five decades and has been part of the Fontvieille neighbourhood since the district’s early development.
The closure was communicated to customers through a notice posted at the station. No official reason for the shutdown has been announced.
The closure will further reduce the number of convenient locations available to motorists in and around Monaco for refuelling.
The development also marks the end of a long period of service for staff and regular customers who have relied on the Fontvieille location for decades.
The station’s closure is scheduled for Monday, August 31, 2026.
