Monaco Begins Construction on Floating Solar Farm off the Coast
The innovative project will generate clean energy for the Principality's public infrastructure.

MONACO — December 5, 2026 — Construction has commenced on Monaco's first floating solar farm, an innovative renewable energy project located just off the Principality's coastline.
The floating solar array, developed in partnership with a leading European renewable energy firm, will feature thousands of high-efficiency photovoltaic panels mounted on floating platforms anchored to the seabed. The system is designed to minimize environmental impact while maximizing energy generation in Monaco's limited available space.
The farm is expected to generate enough electricity to power approximately 15% of Monaco's public buildings, contributing to the Principality's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
"This project demonstrates that even a small, densely populated state can embrace bold renewable energy solutions," said the Minister of Public Works. "It is a symbol of Monaco's commitment to sustainability."
