Lycée Albert 1er Reopens After €13.5 Million Renovation

MONACO — September 5, 2026 — Lycée Albert 1er is preparing to welcome students back following the completion of a major renovation programme valued at €13.5 million. Prince Albert II visited the renovated school on September 3, accompanied by Monaco government representatives and other officials. The works introduced modernised classrooms, upgraded air-conditioning and ventilation systems, improved thermal and acoustic insulation, new window and door fittings and photovoltaic panels. The renovation required approximately 800 students, 100 teachers and support staff to temporarily relocate during the works. The historic school, founded in 1910 by Prince Albert I, is scheduled to welcome approximately 750 students when the new academic year begins on September 7. The project combines improvements to educational facilities with measures designed to improve energy efficiency and comfort across the historic building.
