Monaco Opens Urban Rooftop Farm to Promote Local Food Production
The new rooftop garden will supply fresh produce to local restaurants and offer community workshops.

MONACO — December 11, 2026 — A new urban rooftop farm has opened in Monaco, transforming an unused building roof into a productive agricultural space that will supply fresh produce to local restaurants and serve as a community education hub.
The farm, located in the La Condamine district, features raised beds, vertical growing systems, and a greenhouse powered by renewable energy. It will grow a variety of vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers, with a focus on Mediterranean species well-suited to the local climate.
The project is a collaboration between the Monaco Government, a local agricultural cooperative, and several restaurateurs committed to sourcing locally.
"We want to show that urban agriculture is not only possible in Monaco but can be beautiful and productive," said the project's coordinator. "This is about reconnecting people with the origins of their food."
Public workshops on urban gardening and sustainable food will begin in January 2027.
