Monaco Expands Electric Bus Fleet with 30 New Zero-Emission Vehicles

The new buses will replace older diesel models and increase frequency on key routes across the Principality.

MONACO — December 14, 2026 — The Monaco Government has announced the addition of 30 new zero-emission electric buses to the Principality's public transport fleet, replacing older diesel models and increasing service frequency on key routes. The new buses, manufactured by a leading European electric vehicle company, feature quiet operation, comfortable interiors, and accessibility features. They will serve routes connecting Monte Carlo, La Condamine, Fontvieille, and Larvotto. The expansion is part of Monaco's broader strategy to encourage public transport use and reduce traffic congestion. The government also announced an extension of free bus travel for residents during peak hours, starting in January 2027. "Monaco is committed to becoming a leader in sustainable mobility," said the Minister of Transport. "These new buses represent a significant step toward cleaner, quieter streets." The new fleet will be fully operational by February 2027.
