Monaco Opens “Mémoire des lieux” Exhibition Exploring the Principality’s Heritage

The new cultural exhibition examines Monaco's changing landscape and the memories preserved within its architecture and places.

MONACO — October 7, 2026 — Monaco has opened a new exhibition exploring the relationship between the Principality's heritage, memory and changing urban landscape. Titled “Mémoire des lieux”, the exhibition opened on October 1 at the Salle du Quai Antoine I and will remain on display until January 24, 2027. The exhibition examines how Monaco's rapid urban transformation has changed its landscapes while preserving important elements of collective memory. Contemporary artworks, architecture, historical documents and personal experiences are brought together to explore how places can retain traces of the past even as cities continue to evolve. The exhibition forms part of Monaco's wider heritage programme and reflects the theme of the 31st European Heritage Days, “Heritage in Peril: Revive, Resist, Reinvent.” Visitors can discover the exhibition at the Salle du Quai Antoine I, providing another opportunity to explore the cultural history and identity of the Principality.
